Is It Only Me?????

This morning I put the shanks in the slow cooker added the sauce, carrot and onion and left for work. I came home this afternoon with the sweet aromas wafting through the house. I thought I better give it a stir and see how it was all going. Upon opening the lid and stirring I noticed a little plastic cup in the meal, I pulled it out in disgust and horror. I had another look in the pot and noticed 2 more plastic cups. What the hell are these things and how did I not notice them this morning. I am the type of person who freaks out about cancer causing agents and the thought of that plastic cooking with my meal makes me feels sick. So dinner has now been put in the bin and I think it's baked beans on toast instead. Has anyone else done this or am I the only fool out there? and would you still have ate the shanks for dinner? I know I can be a bit of a princess when it comes to food.

Morning Walks

I thought you might want to join me on my morning walk, there is lots to see.  I walk a couple of blocks and come across beautiful Lorikeet's in a feeding frenzy around these trees. They are truly beautiful and I am very lucky to see them. I have to admit if I lived in the houses next to these trees I may not have such a big love affair with them. The screeching and general ruckus coming from them is massive.

I continue down the main road till I come across a bridge where I cross and see this  view. We haven't had that much rain this winter so the water is very low.

I continue along a bike path which leads to this beautiful park of which my house backs onto. It is such a peaceful place, occasionally we have bands filming song clips in it, unfortunately no big named bands.
I watch out for the cobwebs in the park, they are every where. Spiders are very busy at night time. I then cross one move bridge and then I am home. At this point there is 3 Pokemon to catch, I stay a while till I have caught them all. Then I head home for Breakfast.
I hope you enjoyed my morning walk, I am very lucky girl to have so much beauty around me and sometimes I have to stop what I am doing and breath it all in. I hope you have had a great week so far, enjoy your weekend.

Swell Sculpture Festival 2016

I try and go to the Swell Sculpture Festival each year, it is so unique and a lot of fun. Every year it gets busier and busier.  Which is a good thing for the artists and a bad thing for my legs as I have to park so far away. Somethings I find very strange and think how is that art, others just blow my mind. Needless to say I am no art coniseur. I think my favourite this year was the dog walker which one did you like? Get ready for photo overload.

Ants on the rocks, that's a good band name.
You could walk inside this instalment and it was at least 10 degrees cooler inside.Made from plasic pallets.
Anyone need to do their washing, weird!
 I loved this one
This photo doesn't do it justice.

These make me think of Pretty Little Liars
 So clever
It was hard to keep the kids off the turtle and the adults
Made from soft drink bottles, so pretty!
So clever
The mosaic work on this was mind blowing.
My favourite one, so cute.

Have a lovely weekend everyone. I have to work on Saturday I am really not looking forward to that. So make sure you enjoy yourselves and make the most of it all xxx

My First Lego

My Husband is a massive fan of Star Wars Lego, he has so much of it that it's ridiculous. It actually does my head in, as it it all through out our house. Im going for a mature look in the house and have  given up due to all his toys in every room. Needless to say I am not a fan of Lego, so what does he get me as a joke for my Birthday LEGO. I love VW's so he thought this would be a epic present for me. To start with I thought what an expensive joke present this is.
He told me I had to build it all by myself and he would watch on just to make sure I  didnt stuff up. To begin with I was bored and then when I started to see it resemble a VW, I kind of got into it. OK so I kind of LOVED it! He has converted me that much that I requsted the red Kombi for Christmas.
What do you think of Bertie, I love her. Built her with my own hands I did. I think I will always remember my first Lego and she will have a special place in my heart. When we got broken into I was so glad she didn't get stolen. I know it's quite sad, isnt it.

Burglary

On Thursday we came home from a hard day at work to find our house had been broken into. A window had been smashed a fly screen door pulled from it hinges and a back door with a deadlock had been forced open with a crowbar. They ransacked every room, checked in every nook and cranny. Photos had been taken out of frames to see if anything was behind it, all the meat from the freezer had been thrown on the floor and all they seemed to have taken is 5 small things. Which makes me worry are they coming back for the bigger things.

To make matters worse our Neighbours got broken into as well. Their house was trashed a lot more than ours. The Thieves ate food from their fridge and threw food and drinks through out their house. The only good thing is one of the thieves has cut themselves when breaking the window, so we have DNA and fingerprints which will hopefully help catch them.

This is the second time in 2 years that we have been broken into. I feel a lot calmer this time, don't get me wrong if I knew who did this, I would like to show them my skills with a crowbar. It is the uneasiness that somebody has touched everything in your house, knows where everything is and knows how to gain entry again if they wanted too. I didn't sleep very well last night and the poor cat is just following me around the house. The cat is a indoor cat who must have been petrified with what was going on.

We have insurance and you know what sometimes bad things happen to good people. Things could be worse, I am just glad that the cat is fine, that was my main concern. Sorry for my little vent, I hope your week has been better than mine. Comment with something good that has happened to you this week, brighten my day for me XXX

August Book Review

The back cover reads, "The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it, no paper notices plastered on lampposts and billboards. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within these nocturnal black-and-white striped tents awaits an utterly unique, a feast for the senses, where one can get lost in a maze of clouds, meander through a lush garden made of ice, stare in wonderment as the tattooed contortionist folds herself into a small glass box, and become deliciously tipsy from the scents of caramel and cinnamon that waft through the air".

The descriptions of the circus are magical and made me want to visit a circus even though nothing would compare to the "Le Cirque des Rêves". All though life at the circus is amazing behind the scenes there is a battle between two illusionist which is what the tragic tale is really about. I will not disclose anymore, in fear of ruining it for you.
OMG I loved this book. The main character Lou reminded me so much of myself it freaked me out. Lou has just lost her job and needs to find a new one urgently. After many interviews and awful jobs placements, she gets and interview for a carer of someone in a wheel chair. That someone is Will who is not dealing very well with his new life in a wheel chair. Needless to say the love and friendship they end up having is truly beautiful, a must read if you haven't already.
This book is straight after, "Me Before You". It deals with Lou's new life, she has a massive accident and has to move back in with her Mum and Dad. Where she has to heal her body and her mind. Unfortunately Lou hasn't really learnt anything from Will and is still just plodding along. This book is about her finding her way in the world, in true Lou style.
The final book in the, Fifth Wave series is set over a three day period. It is told from the viewpoints of Cassie, Ringer, Zombie and Sam. Evan comes up with a master plan to save the world. In the end he is not the hero, the hero is Cassie and not in the way you would expect. I was not into this book series as much as I thought I would be. For some reason Cassie just annoyed me.

If you have read any of these books what did you think? I have to admit that, "Me Before You" has been my favourite read this year.

I Didn't Have An Accident In The shower.

I have been thinking about doing some DIY home remedies for a while. When I  finished my Body Shop Spa of the World, African Ximenia Scrub, instead of buying a new one I thought I would attempt to make my own.
This was just 1 cup of coffee, 6 table spoons of melted coconut oil and 3 table spoons of sea salt. I also added a few drops of lavender oil as I hate coffee. I was trying to make the lavender oil over power the coffee which ended up being impossible.

When I used it, it was messy.  The consistency is not good and it just falls apart. Do not use it straight after cleaning the bath like I did or you will be very cranky. After using it my skin did feel softer and I think because of the lavender oil it also felt really moisturized. Unfortunately I smelt like a cappuchino. If you like coffee and making a mess and you want your skin to be softer and slightly moisturized, I would give it a go if your bored on a weekend. Has anyone made a good body scrub that they are happy with? If so what did you use? I need all the help I can get.

KOOROOMBA LAVENDER FARM

For my Birthday Hubby took me to the Kooroomba Lavender Farm for lunch. Attached to the lavender farm is a winery. Where we got to do some wine testing  and then picked the wine we wanted with our lunch. The lunch and the wine were delicious. Sorry there are no photos, I was to busy devouring my meals.
After lunch we went for a wander through the lavender and the grape vines. It is such a beautiful part of the world, the sun was shining and the air was so fresh. You would never have thought that it was winter.
We pulled out a picnic blanket and lay in the sun finishing our bottle of wine. It was so relaxing and peaceful that I could have stayed there all afternoon. Unfortunately though we had to pack up as we had a long drive back home. Before we left I snuck in the gift shop and bought some lavender bath oil, lavender bath salts and another cheeky bottle of wine.
On the way home we stopped off at an information centre because it had a lure on it and we wanted to catch Pokemon. So we sat on the swings at the info centre and collected pokeballs and Pokemon for half and hour. Yes this is how we roll. Is anyone else playing it? it is so addictive.
When we got home I decided I wanted a bath. This adventure should end with me lying in the lavender bath drinking a bottle of wine. Instead my bath did not get warm and we realized we need a new hot water system. So we called a plumber friend who said he would fix it on Monday for us. So cold showers for the rest of the weekend YAY!!!!!!

July Book review

I have a massive pile of books I need to read and then I see a new book series that I must have and those books are put on the back burner. So I have told myself I have to read two books from that pile each month or I am not allowed to buy any new books. I love bargaining with myself, does anyone else do that?

The first book from my pile of books to be read was, The Vampire Shrink by Lynda Hilburn. The main character is Kismet who is a shrink, one of her clients comes into her office explaining that she wants to be turned into a vampire. Kismet thinks she is delusional and has lost her way and really wants to help her and others that are feeling this way and decides to call herself, The Vampire Shrink. Little does Kismet know the huge underworld of Vampires that lives around her and the mystery of dead bodies turning up in her local area. Kismet ends up being caught in the middle of everything and it takes her a while to realise that Vampires actually exist. This is very different to any other vampire book I have read it would make Twilight readers blush. A great light read I would give it 7/10.

The Infinite Sea the second book in the series, The 5th Wave was brilliant. It goes into a lot of details of all the characters that escaped at the end of the last book. I am really glad it did as Cassie has started to annoy me for some reason and if it just continued with Cassie, I would not have been as interested in the book. All I can say is Ringer is my all-time favourite character in the book and I think she handles herself so well. I don't want to say to much more as I don't want too give anything away. I give this book 8/10. I was supposed to finsh the 3rd book this month and then along came Harry Potter and spoilt everything as I read, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child instead.
I had to take my Hubby to see the BFG, I had never read the book before so it had to be done. I loved every minute of it, Roald Dahl is a brilliant author. All I have ever read was James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I really just want to sit back and read all of his work. This book is about young Sophie who lives in and orphanage and sees the BFG doing strange things at night. The BFG spots Sophie and runs away with her to Giant Country. Sophie at first is very frightened of the BFG, then learns that his job is to collect dreams and give them to young girls and boys. In giant county there are really bad giants that eat humans. It is up to Sophie and the BFG to save the world. Have you seen the movie? I thought it was adorable. I totally loved the scene with the queen farting it had me in stitches. I give this book 8/10
The second book from the pile of books to be read was Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult. Delia has had a lovely life growing up with her Dad, until one day the Police come to her door and arrest her Dad for kidnapping. Delia think there has to be a mistake until she realises that the person who was kidnapped was her. This was such an interesting read with Delia trying to work out her past and deal with her beloved Dad being locked up in jail. I give this book 8/10
What have you been reading this month, any recommendations for me? Enjoy August, I can't wait for it to start warming up here. It seems to be getting colder and colder, not that where I live is that cold.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Out of all of my Birthday presents, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was the one I was looking forward to the most. I lined up at the bookstore with my voucher and eagerly received my parcel. Upon opening the book I was bitterly disapointed because I didnt realise it was a script for the play. Maybe I have been living under a rock because I was expecting a book.

It didn't take me long to be sucked back into the wonderful world of Harry Potter. The book has been written 19 years after the last book. Harry is still with Ginny, he works at the Ministry of Magic and has three children, James, Albus and Lily. Albus is just about to go to Hogwarts for the first time and is very nervous about what house the sorting hat is going to give him. Albus gets sorted into Slytherin and that is where Albus gets a little bit lost. Albus and Harrys relationship starts to breakdown and his bestfriend at school is Malfoy's Son.

I dont want to spoil anymore for you. Lets just say all the old characters are in the book and are written perfectly. There are Time turners, Polyjuice Potion's, Voldemort, unlikely relationships, characters who you think are to old to still be teachers and lots of  wonderful moments. I read the book in one sitting, stopping once for a cup of tea. If your a fan of Harry Potter you will love it! Let me know if you have read it and what you thought. Enjoy your weekend.
